Meet East Voyager Academy's Hard-working Board of Trustees.
The regularly scheduled board meetings of the board of trustees is scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm. All meetings are open to the public. Please refer to the EVA calendar or the link below for virtual meeting links.
EVA Board members and administrative team will review the New Charter Leader's Tasks List as part of their onboarding process in order to better serve the students.

Victor Hiraldo is an experienced educator and instructional leader with over 25 years of service in K–12 education. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Throughout his career, Victor has remained deeply committed to advancing equitable, high-quality education for all students, particularly multilingual learners and historically underserved populations.
Victor currently serves as an Educator Success Manager with Global Teaching Partners, where he partners with school districts, instructional coaches, and teachers to strengthen instructional practices and build sustainable, high-impact programs. In this role, he supports educational leaders in improving teacher effectiveness, enhancing student outcomes, and developing systems that promote long-term success.
Prior to his current role, Victor served as the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) and World Languages Coordinator for Durham Public Schools. During his tenure, he led the expansion of language programs across all 57 schools in the district and increased the number of DLI programs from three to eight. His leadership significantly expanded access to bilingual education and strengthened program quality across grade levels.
Victor’s professional experience also includes roles in classroom instruction and district-level leadership, where he built a reputation for fostering strong relationships with educators and administrators, coaching instructional improvement, and designing impactful professional development.
In addition to his work in education, Victor is an ordained pastor and a dedicated community leader. His passion for service, advocacy, and educational excellence continues to guide his contributions to students, families, and school communities.
Victor is honored to serve on the board of East Voyager Academy, where he brings his expertise in curriculum, language development, and program design to support the school’s mission and continued growth.

John Liu, Ph.D. is an electrical engineer with over 30 years of experience in power systems, specializing in design, studies, and protective relaying. He began his career at Chengdu Power Plant and later earned his Ph.D. from Clarkson University. His professional journey includes roles at Bechtel, General Electric, Areva, AECOM/URS, and currently Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL). Dr. Liu holds degrees from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Shanghai University. In addition to his engineering career, he is an active community leader, having served as President and now Board Chair of the Chinese American Association of Charlotte, promoting cultural connection and community engagement.
